Cachimba del Rey

From the times of the earliest settlements this area was the main watering zone.

Its water was so pure, and so abundant that it was called “the King’s well”.

Towards 1873 its use was discontinued, nevertheless during the 1921 drought it was used again to provide the population with water.

One of the many legends surrounding the Cachimba is that whoever drinks its water will always return to Maldonado.
