Tour
A city tour includes the entire peninsula - which has been proposed in the first walk -
and covers residential developments including here the two most representative of Punta del Este: towards Brava,
San Rafael, and to the Mansa, Cantegril. The tour around the city of Maldonado we have tried in the third walk.
Then we started the city tour on the "Paseo de las Americas"
and we went to the Atlantic coast toward the Barrio San Rafael. .
Before going, turning left, we find the Casino San Rafael.
Back on the coast, we pass a number of large houses before reaching the mouth of the Maldonado River.
If we stop at the area known as the "Gorgorita", we can enjoy a spectacular view of La Barra, the residential area
which lies on the mouth of the Maldonado River. .
Still following the Rambla we arrive at La Barra bridge. The road drives us through La Barra area, which is the heart of the Punta del Este nightlife and also has some beautiful beaches.
On the way back, instead of taking the seaside road we turn to the right from the bridge, and following the banks of
the Maldonado River we come to El Jaguel Park. Across the road from this park is El Jaguel Airport.
Beyond are two rather recent residential areas with beautiful houses and parks, called Beverly Hills and Lugano. Still beyond is the Cantegril residential area. .
On Roosevelt Av. we go in the direction of Maldonado city but at the bus stop 16th, we turn on our right to meet the Cantegril neighborhood.
.
To go to Punta Ballena we'll pass close Pinares neighborhood and the "Del Diario" lagoon.
At Punta Ballena we turn to the left to appreciate the Portezuelo bay and on our right we'll find Casapueblo, the workshop-gallery of Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró.
.
Finally, we'll continue to the cape by the Panoramic Route.
.
On both sides we'll find "The Ballena Caverns" and we'll enjoy one of the most beatifull views of Punta del Este.
