Punta del Este for kids: Parks
Punta del Este has many parks and other open spaces for having fun with your friends.
If you want to play outdoors, ride on horseback and watch an amazing variety of birds, ask your parents
to take you to El Jaguel Park.
There you will also be able to play with big funny animals made out of trees, skate and have a good time in general. There is also a large enclosure with native Uruguayan birds and animals, for example the "carpincho", a small and hairy relative of the pig.
Very close to El Jaguel Park is the Parque Indígena, where you can spend the afternoon with your family among trees and flowers, and make your own barbecue.
There are two other places where you can enjoy watching native animals, the San Carlos Zoo and the Pan de Azucar Park.
In the latter you can watch the work being done with endangered species. There are deer, foxes, birds of all kinds, pumas and also snakes. Should you go there, do not feed the animals and try not to make too much noise to avoid upsetting them. Don't take your dog either - some of the animals in the park may be scared of it.
