The beaches
Punta del Este boasts beautiful beaches.
Miles of coast are there for your enjoyment.
You can opt for the calm waters of the Maldonado and Portezuelo Bays from which you can see the sunset, or choose the open seas and high waves of the Atlantic coast, where you can watch the sun rise after an all night party.
Every year the fashionable set selects one or two beaches, renames them and they become a pole of attraction for the jet-set.
Access to all the beaches is free.
Most beaches have lifeguards, and very few of them do not have music and special activities sponsored by well-known household names.
It is forbidden to drive onto the beach and to take animals, and there are clearly marked areas for the practice of water sports.
